Three generations, a summer photo shoot

Under what was quite-a-warm-summer-day-for-Vancouver this family of three generations were really good sports. The bright sunny day turned out to be quite the challenge with only a few shaded spots in the garden. But with some posing and composition creativity the results came out nicely varied.

Three, soon four

Today, on a beautiful sunny Vancouver-day, I spent the morning on a photo shoot with this great family of three, soon four. We shot for a couple of hours at Dundarave Park by the water in West Vancouver, and managed to find some nice shade in the harsh March sun.

Window of opportunity, lighting tips #1

The first thing I do when someone asks me to take their group picture at a party is to move them into a spot with good lighting. I don't know what it is with people, but we seem to gravitate towards standing in front of windows thinking: "oh, how wonderful we will get the nice view in the picture". I hate to be the one to break the news, but no, that is not what will happen.
