Three, soon four

Today, on a beautiful sunny Vancouver-day, I spent the morning on a photo shoot with this great family of three, soon four. We shot for a couple of hours at Dundarave Park by the water in West Vancouver, and managed to find some nice shade in the harsh March sun.

↓ Here are a some of the great shots we got together.

For the technically interested: Lighting was quite challenging under the harsh March sun. But by finding some nicely shaded areas, the exposure turned out quite well. There was just so much light this morning that even in the shaded areas I only ended up using a tiny bit of fill flash from my diffused SB900 on a couple of the shots. For the entire shoot, the Nikon 85mm f1.4 was glued to my D700. I just love this combo. Hm! I should do a review of the lens at some point, just to share how good it is.

Hello,

I have read your camera reviews and blog and I am wondering, when you're doing real work, such as the portrait galleries, what is your favourite camera to use?

Kindest Regards,

Todd Dennis

@Todd my favorite camera is (luckily) the camera I use every day: the Nikon D700. My favorite lensed for portraits are the Nikon 50mm f1.4 and 85mm f1.4. Two great lenses. You can see a lot of my portraits are taken with one of those two lenses.

Hope that helps.
